What do the trading conditions mean?
Consider the following when comparing account types:
- Spread: The difference between the buy and sell prices. The minimum spreads shown are starting values, rather than fixed spreads.
- Commission: A trading fee charged separately from the spread. Zero commission does not remove other applicable trading costs.
- Leverage: Allows you to hold a trading position larger than the margin committed. Available leverage depends on account, regional and product conditions. Leverage can magnify gains and losses relative to that margin.
How is commission calculated for a small MT5 ECN trade?
For a 0.01-lot trade on an MT5 ECN account, the calculated commission is USD 0.025 per side. With two-decimal-place rounding, each side is USD 0.03, giving a total round-turn commission of USD 0.06.
A side means either opening or closing the trade. A round turn includes both.
| Commission component | Amount |
|---|---|
| Calculated commission per side | USD 0.025 |
| Rounded commission for opening | USD 0.03 |
| Rounded commission for closing | USD 0.03 |
| Total round-turn commission | USD 0.06 |
The total reflects rounding each side separately. This example applies to a 0.01-lot MT5 ECN trade, rather than every trade size or account type.
Can leverage change?
Leverage for certain products may be adjusted around major economic announcements. For details, see Dynamic Leverage: When Leverage Is Reduced.
You can also compare account options on the Account Types page.
What if the commission differs from the example?
Check your account type, platform and trading volume. Make sure you are comparing the commission for both opening and closing the trade when checking the round-turn total.
